Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line wanted to up the interactivity and visual aesthetic of their website to attract new users to the cruise industry, namely a younger, more web-savvy demographic. As a result, I was brought onboard to design and develop various animated marketing components that highlight the array and marvel of their destinations.

On the homepage, I created a sleek CMS-driven marketing image viewer, which has the ability to detect a user’s region within the United States and filter through images that match destinations that would be most enticing based on that user’s current location.

Within the same interactive component, I co-created a Freestyle Experience module, which filters through a vast collection of multimedia content—everything from images and audio to video—allowing the user to browse based on three categories: Fun, Dining and Accommodations.

Lastly, I replicated miniature versions of the marketing image viewers across various subpages of NCL.com to highlight the features of each cruise ship. These particular marketing image viewers also have the ability to display videos.

As NCL’s interests in optimization realigned, I worked to port all of the Flash/Actionscript work to Javascript and a more cross-device accessible interface.
